Purpose of AAI

The Alliance Against Islamophobia (AAI) is dedicated to adopting a research based, data driven approach to addressing and alleviating the helplessness, suffering, marginalization, social isolation, and sense of isolation faced by Australian Indian Muslims in particular and Muslims in general as a direct consequence of the increasing ridicule, contempt, and anti-Muslim hate speech from far-right Hindu extremist rhetoric in Australia.

Core Activities and Strategic Priorities of AAI

Research

Objective:
Collecting data to understand and analyze the themes of hate speech promoted by far-right Hindu extremist organizations and map networks of far right Hindu extremist groups in Australia.

Activities:

  • Conducting systematic research and data collection to identify and document instances, themes of anti-Muslim hate speech and mapping networks of far right Hindu extremist groups in Australia.
  • Combating hate speech with informed and research-based counternarratives.
  • Developing and disseminating research based, data-driven counternarratives to challenge and mitigate the impact of anti-Muslim rhetoric.
  • Publishing regular reports and white papers that analyze trends, patterns, and the impact of such hate speech on Muslim communities

Community Empowerment and Collaboration.

Objective:
To empower the Australian Indian Muslim community by sharing research findings and collaborating on strategies to prevent and address antimuslim hate speech.

Activities:

  • Engagement with Religious Bodies and Islamic Organizations: Partnering with religious bodies and Islamic organizations to leverage their influence and reach within the community.
  • Education and Awareness: Providing these organizations with research based insights and tools to educate and raise awareness among their members about the nature and impact of anti-Muslim hate speech.
  • Community Workshops and Seminars: Conducting workshops and seminars in collaboration with these organizations to equip community members with the knowledge and skills to effectively counteract hate speech.
  • Resource Development: Creating and distributing educational materials and tool kits, including pamphlets, guides, and online resources, to empower community leaders and members with actionable strategies to combat hate speech.
  • Support Networks: Facilitating support networks within the community to provide assistance and solidarity to individuals who experience hate speech, fostering a sense of resilience and collective empowerment.
