Alliance Against Islamophobia Endorses Special Envoy’s Statement on Islamophobia – 18 February 2025

The Alliance Against Islamophobia strongly endorses the Media Release by Special Envoy Aftab Malik dated 18th February 2025 and reiterates the urgent need for authorities and politicians to take Islamophobia seriously.

The escalating attacks against the Muslim community, including the recent assaults in Epping, are deeply concerning and reflect a broader pattern of rising anti-Muslim hate across the country.

We echo the Special Envoy’s call for stronger government action, including increased resources for law enforcement, public condemnations from political leaders, and policy measures to safeguard Australian Muslims.

The 600 per cent increase in Islamophobic incidents since 7 October 2023 is alarming, and it is imperative that authorities act swiftly to address this growing crisis.

We thank the Special Envoy for his leadership and advocacy, and we look forward to supporting efforts that combat Islamophobia, protect the Muslim community, and foster social cohesion in Australia.
