Calling All Australian Muslims to Participate in Important Research on Islamophobia!

Dear Community Members,

Legal researcher Maryam Hashimi is conducting vital research to evaluate whether New South Wales’ civil vilification laws are adequate in addressing anti-Muslim sentiment and Islamophobia. Led by the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW, this study aims to contribute to the reform of existing policies and laws that combat Islamophobia.

Maryam is looking for adults (18+) with expertise or experience in civil vilification laws and/or Islamophobia. Participants from various professions, including lawyers, academics, researchers, and policy or legal advocates, are encouraged to get involved.

Interviews will be conducted online and will take 45-60 minutes.

Why Your Participation Matters:

This research could pave the way for stronger legal protections to stop the harassment of Muslim women in public spaces, bullying of Muslim children in schools, and the wider vilification and marginalisation of our community. By participating, you are helping to shape a future where we can live as proud Australian Muslims, with our heads held high.
